For the CellPoint/Galapagos organisation in Leiden/NL, we are looking for a Systems Development Lead for the xCellit platform

Taking ownership of the development, validation and operations of our xCellit IT platform you ensure a robust, scalable, secure, up-to-date platform that complies with all regulatory, security and operational requirements of a GxP Pharma environment. You deliver and support activities, and act as the primary contact for external partner(s) ensuring that they deliver their services according to expectations.

Together with the xCellit System Innovation Lead, you define the vision & development roadmap for the xCellit platform, its integration with other software platforms and external hardware, such as ERP. This includes the creation of our roadmap for data management and analytics to operationally enable the delivery of data insights & analytics for all users, and the use of data for statistical process trending.

Your team will be in the lead for setting up and installing the required IT infrastructure at service providers, new point of care manufacturing sites and clinical sites, monitoring the installations of existing sites, managing day-to-day operations and performance, and securing user support for xCellit.

You work closely together with the xCellit Innovation Lead, the CellPoint departments, the CSV team, the GLPG IT infrastructure team, software developers, as well as the POC sites to get the most out of xCellit.


  • Holds the xCellit platform ownership towards the Galapagos functions and external users (hospitals, PoC sites and apheresis sites).
  • Has the program oversight of all xCellit development initiatives, drives planning and execution and manages resources, schedule, financials and scope.
  • Organizes day-to-day delivery and support activities of the xCellit IT platform throughout its lifecycle.
  • Ensures xCellit supports the features & requirements as defined in the xCellit roadmap and meets necessary regulatory, security and operational requirements.
  • Formulates IT service requirements and organizing the service delivery and continuous improvements based on agreements and actual performance.
  • Coordinates changes and releases to the xCellit platform in line with agreed schedules and release processes.
  • Acts as the first point of contact during xCellit escalations.
  • Defines and oversees implementation of L1/L2/L3 service delivery for the operational xCellit platform in sites (hospitals, Point of Care GMP sites, apheresis sites).
  • Organizes, builds and leads the development and service delivery teams as a people leader and ensures the rights partnerships with external vendors are set up.

Job requirements


  • A Master degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5+ years of IT team and platform/technology responsibility (end-to-end) for electronic batch record and/or quality control/assurance solutions and/or cell orchestration platform.
  • Experience with Cell & Gene therapy orchestration solutions is a plus.
  • At least 5+ years of experience working with computer system validation and qualification.


  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities without direct authority in a consultative, collaborative and team-oriented style where the path forward is not always clear at the outset and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Successful history of managing a large volume of work and an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing and agile environment.
  • Has successfully led and directed teams of professionals, as a project team leader and a people leader.
  • Possess solid project & service management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to be influential and persuasive with stakeholders.
  • An ability to think critically about systems and to make adjustments consistently as needed.
  • Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to work with demanding users in a fast-moving environment.
